Cognosint
Cognosint is an diagramming tool meant to help with organizing OSINT information and map their relationships. It is in an early alpha stage in its development.
My goals for this tool are the following:
Implemented (but still prone to change):
- Physics
- Nimble UX
- Data-at-rest encryption
- Data-in-transit encryption
- Collaborative editing
- Create a cover image for each investigation
- General UI/UX improvements
- General site polish
Head on to Investigations to get started!
Important: Storage and Security
- Local Storage: All investigation data is stored within your browser and not transmitted to any server. It is crucial to manually backup your data (via File > Export) before clearing your browser data if you wish to retain your investigation data.
- Password Responsibility: If you opt to use a custom password for encryption, you are responsible for remembering this password. There is no way to recover your data if the password is forgotten.
- Encryption and Default Passwords: All data is encrypted to enhance security. If you do not specify a custom password, a randomly generated password is used. This password is stored in plain text in your browser and should not be considered secure for sensitive information. Only one password is generated that is then used for all of your projects. For enhanced security, it is advisable to provide your own password.
Note: While this application is robust for alpha testing, please consider the current capabilities and security measures before using it for highly sensitive or critical information.
